Medicaid benefits for 2014
February 4th, 2014

Most people have losing weight as their new year's resolution.  Been there and done that.  My resolution is to be more diligent about updating my blog-so here goes. We now have the new figures from New York State as follows: The monthly income level for one person receiving Medicaid benefits in the community is $809.  The resource allowance for one person receiving Medicaid benefits in the community or in a nursing home is $14,550. The maximum community spousal allowance is $117,240 and the minimum is still $74,820. Spousal refusal is alive and well in New York for community as well as nursing home cases. Spousal budgeting has been expanded to include not only nursing home Medicaid, but also Medicaid in the community through the use of MLTC's. (managed care) The 2014 regional rates in order to calculate a penalty period resulting from gifting are: $12,112 for Long Island $11,423 for NYC boroughs
